Dubai has a plan for the expected increase in traffic over Eid
Popular spots such as Burj Khalifa and shopping malls will be paid particular attention…
While the Eid al Adha holiday is certainly a time for celebration it also can mean chaos on Dubai’s roads due to the sheer amount of people (ethier residents or visitors) who head out in the city over the break.
To that end, Dubai officials have revealed a new plan to regular traffic and maintain road safety during the festive period.
The plan will mainly involve easing congestion in areas such as malls, tourist destinations and Airport Street, where the greatest building up traffic is expected.

The initiative is a joint venture between The RTA and Dubai Police, with Khalid Obaid Al Bishri, deputy head of the RTA’s Events Security Committee, saying: “Dubai Police road patrols will be intensified to ease traffic movement and fend off any potential traffic issues that might crop up due to the intense vehicular traffic in those areas,”
Specifically, traffic to and from the Burj Khalifa area will be directed in several directions, including Oud Metha via Al Asayel St, Zabeel Bridges via Happiness St, and the internal roads of Business Bay providing access to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.
Traffic signals on the Financial Center St. and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will also be managed during peak times.
Al Wasl Club and Jafiliya will act as surplus parking lots in case Dubai Mall’s parking is full (let’s face it, it probably will be), and additional busses will be deployed to shuttle residents to and from the mall.
Even with all these preparations you can expect traffic to be at a peak during the Eid period so it might be worth it to leave the car at home and just hop on public transport – the revised Eid timings of which can be found here.
