The Al Khair Ride initiative will continue throughout the rest of 2018

Here’s your feel-good story for the day: the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it will offer free taxi rides to all ‘People of Determination’ throughout the remainder of 2018.

The Al Khair Ride initiative is a joint venture between the RTA’s Dubai Taxi Corporation and the Al-Futtaim Motors Company, and is designed to help people with special needs or disabilities travel around the city more easily.

Special taxis have been outfitted with accessibility features, such as wheelchair lifts, to make it easier for those with disabilities to get in and out. The taxis are also driven by qualified drivers who have been trained in assisting people of determination.

The service is available 24/7 either at Dubai Airport or by calling Dubai Taxi on (04) 208 0808.
