Watch: real-life Iron Man shows off awesome jet-powered suit in Dubai
You can see him hovering in front of Emirates Towers…
If you could have any superpower what would it be? We’d pick flight, no question. Of course, most of us will have to sit around waiting to be bitten by radioactive falcon to achieve this, whereas one man, however, has decided to take matters into his own hands.
In the video below, 39-year old UK resident Richard Browning can be seen taking off and landing on a patch of car park at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It’s pretty awesome, he’s basically a real-life Iron Man…
The demonstration was performed as part of the GISEC security and technology conference opening ceremony on Tuesday. According to The National, Browning flew around five metres in the air, successfully landing in a cloud of dust and noise.
His suit is made up of six micro gas turbines attached to his arms and back, capable of around 22kg of thrust each. To put it in context, that’s about 1,000 horsepower and was enough to nab him a Guiness World Record for the fastest speed in a body-controlled jet-engine powered suit in November of 2017.
Thinking of picking one up for yourself? Browning’s company, Gravity, can apparently make you one to the tune of US$250,000 (around Dhs918,000). Yikes. But hey, no one ever said personal flight would be cheap, and it’s still better than a radioactive falcon bite.
