What's with those fires at Jebel Ali?
Don’t worry – they’re due to controlled testing.
If you live in the vicinity of Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1, you might have noticed what appeared to be a large fire last night.
Turns out, there’s no need to worry. According to the Dubai Media Office, the flames are due to operational testing being carried out in the area by the Dubai Supply Authority. This testing includes the “normal practice” of flaring hydrocarbon gas.
“The flaring will look like a fire and will be visible to residents of the neighbouring areas,” Dubai Media Office said in a Twitter statement.
“These tests will be carried out for approximately two weeks starting from tonight. Please do not be alarmed.”
