The former cruise ship recently shared a photo of one of the restored rooms, noting that “it’s not long until her new journey begins”:
It also revealed the destination will be home to 12 dining and entertainment venues, from “casual and fine dining to grand theatres and nightclubs”.
Earlier, the QE2 account shared a photo of the ship being welcomed back to port after spending two weeks at the Dubai Dry Docks “for a bit of deep cleaning and paint retouch”.
The QE2 first set sail in 1969, and steamed six million miles, carried 2.5 million passengers and was even sent to war.
Its re-opening has been eagerly anticipated by maritime experts, fans and holidaymakers who have fond memories of their time on the ship.
A QE2 website went live earlier this year, and is currently advertising for staff who can provide “a royal experience”.
Although not confirmed by the Port, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, who are now responsible for the QE2, it has been rumoured that the 300-key hotel will open in the first half of this year.
