Eight tried and tested salon services in Dubai
From microblading to mani-pedis, here’s where to get your glam on…
We all need a little pampering sometimes, and nowhere quite does it like Dubai. There are so many places to get your beauty fix that it can be overwhelming – but don’t worry, that’s why we’re here. And our perfectly polished digits have put in the hard yards for you.
Here are eight tried and tested salon services in Dubai…
Nails: We Nails
An oldie but a goodie, We Nails is one of the Marina’s go to spots for manicures. There’s a kaleidoscope of colours to choose from, whether you’re looking for a simple file and polish, gellish manicure or acrylic extensions. Their therapists are quick and efficient, and despite the salon being constantly busy, will always try and fit you in. They do home services too, which is a great option for a pre-night out pamper.
Skyview Tower, Al Sufouh 2, Dubai Marina (opposite Dubai Marina). Tel: (04) 452 8226. More info on Facebook.
Nail Extensions: Yin Yang Salon
A relative newcomer on the salon scene, Yin Yang recently opened in Sadaf 3 on JBR and is already proving popular with residents. It’s run by two British girls and prices its treatments competitively. Nail extensions cost Dhs199, with infills at a reasonable Dhs150. The salon also offers highlights starting from Dhs250, with make up and blow-dry packages from Dhs300.
Yin Yang Salon, Sadaf 3, JBR. Tel: (054) 445 2502. More info on website.
Facials: Tips & Toes
Tips and Toes have just expanded their treatment range to include six Anesi based facials. Focusing on anti-aging, detox moisturising, peeling, tightening, soothing and repairing, Anesi based treatments are great for those with problem skin looking for a fresh glow. We tried out the hour-long Hydro Detox Facial (Dhs263) which first uses a steaming treatment followed by three hydrating Anesi cleanses. It’s a delicate facial that’s light and kind to skin, and left our face and neck area feeling silky smooth for several days.
Tips and Toes, selected branches including Al Barsha. Tel: 04 341 2020. More info on website.
Microblading: The Dollhouse Dubai
Most Dubai beauty fans will have heard of The Dollhouse. The famed beauty bar by Basma Al Fahim and Mona Kattan (Huda’s sister) is a go-to in Al Barsha for blow-dries and mani-pedis. But it’s their branch in Dubai Ladies Club that we really love. It’s got a main salon space as well as separate treatment rooms for massages and microblading. There’s real attention to detail at this salon, and microblading technician Rowena talks us through the process as well as taking notes on the colour, shape and definition we’re looking for with our brows. Unlike a normal tattoo, the pigment only goes through a few layers of skin, and is implanted with a handheld tool instead of a machine. We won’t lie, it hurts, but the pain is minimal thanks to the numbing cream. It takes around an hour-and-a -alf from start to finish, with a free top-up included four to six weeks after the first treatment.
The Dollhouse Beauty Studio, Dubai Ladies Club, Jumeirah 2. Tel: (04) 272 6860. More info on website.
HD Brows: Browz
If you’re looking for an option that’s less intense (or permanent) than microblading, check out the HD brows treatment at Browz, which offers tinting and shaping in 30 minutes. Especially great for people with healthy brows that need tidying up, the treatment is also good for those who are a bit lacking in the brow department, as it can help glam up the brows you have. Even better, Michele and her team are super professional and welcoming, so you can just lie back and know your brows are in good hands.
The Mall, Jumeirah, Sun to Thur 10am to 10pm, Fri and Sat 10am to midnight, Dhs300. Tel: (050) 841 4289. More info on website.
Hair colouring: Trevor Sorbie
We can see why Trevor Sorbie is loved by celebrities including Helen Mirren and Grace Jones. Making his Dubai debut at the Fashion Avenue expansion at The Dubai Mall, the new Trevor Sorbie Salon is a stylish salon, with a contemporary feel. It’s industrial interiors are contrasted by a leafy ceiling, and salon services range from waxes to eyelash extensions, although their signature work is all about haircare. A set of highlights is priced from Dhs420 for a T-Section, and Dhs630 for a full head, and a pre-treatment consultation ensures that the colour is just what you’re looking for. They do the foils fine and at frequent intervals, so that you avoid that streaky look and come out with a subtle, natural colour. Just be prepared to be patient, as stylists take their time over their work but can often run over.

Hair Extensions: Love Your Lox by Lamiese Johnson
While not technically a salon, we couldn’t miss Love Your Lox, aka hair extension specialist Lamiese Johnson, off our list. Arguably one of the best in the business in Dubai, Lamiese is a hair extension specialist and super stylist of hair brand Remi Cachet. She works with micro rings, wefts and bonds, and also supplies after-care kits to ensure your locks are kept in top shape between maintenances. Consultations are free, with hair priced depending on the brand and fitting style you’re after.
Love Your Lox, Belgravia 1, Jumeirah Village Circle. Tel: (054) 331 2094. More info on Instagram.
Lash Lift: Pastels Salon
Chuck out the torturous eyelash curlers and extensions – the latest in eye-opening beauty treatments is the LVL Lash Lift. Lasting for six to eight weeks, this gentle-on-your-lashes treatment curls the lashes at the root and finishes off with a tint without damaging your natural lashes. Results can be quite dramatic, so grab this one on your lunch break (it costs Dhs300), and heading back into the office looking oh-so-refreshed – you should definitely expect a compliment or two.
The Ritz-Carlton JBR, daily 9am to 7pm. Tel: (04) 399 5016. More info on website.
