Dubai Police return a lost Rolex worth Dhs100,000 to its owner in the UK
It had been left in a Dubai hotel room after a recent visit…
A tourist from the UK received a pleasant surprise when a member of Dubai Police showed up at her front door in London to hand-deliver a Rolex watch that she had misplaced on a recent visit to the UAE.
The timepiece, worth a cool Dhs100,000, had been left in a Dubai hotel room and was immediately reported to authorities by hotel staff upon being discovered. Officers from the lost and found department of Dubai Police then contacted the watch’s owner who was happy to hear that it had been found and said that she would collect it next time she visited the country.

However, after nine months of no-show from the British woman, Dubai Police decided to explore some creative ways to get the expensive item back to her.
They contacted a number of local cargo companies – a method they have used in the past to return lost items overseas – but many refused to take responsibility for the watch due to its high valuation.
As luck would have it, a delegation of Dubai Police officers were due to attend a conference in the UK and came up with the idea of taking time out of their schedule to return the Rolex back to its owner. The task fell upon Brigadier Saeed bin Sulaiman, director of Al Rashidiya police station to personally deliver the watch and needless to say the owner was grateful and more than a little surprised.
