And Flydubai might be moving to Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport…

Earlier this year, Emirates and Flydubai announced they would be entering into a partnership agreement, and revealed 29 codeshare routes.

Now, the airlines have announced 16 additional destinations they will be sharing (as in, you’ll buy an Emirates ticket but travel on a flight operated by Flydubai).

Here are the new destinations Emirates will fly to with Flydubai:

• Bratislava (Slovakia)
• Chittagong (Bangladesh)
• Djibouti (Djibouti)
• Dushanbe (Tajikistan)
• Hargeisa (Somalia)
• Istanbul – Sabiha Gokcen (Turkey)
• Kathmandu (Nepal)
• Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)
• Mattala Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka)
• Makhachkala (Russia)
• Podgorica (Montenegro)
• Sylhet (Bangladesh)
• Ufa (Russia)
• Voronezh (Russia)
• Yerevan (Armenia)
• Zanzibar (Tanzania)

For bookings under the codeshare, Emirates passengers will receive free meals, and the same checked baggage allowance as they would normally be entitled to.

Members of the Emirates Skywards frequent flier programme will also earn miles and receive other privileges on these codeshare flights.

Silver, gold and platinum members will be able to bring 12kg, 16kg, or 20kg of extra checked baggage on flights operated by Flydubai, and will also be able to use Flydubai’s business check-in counters.

FLYDUBAI TO MOVE TO TERMINAL 3?

Currently, Emirates has its very own terminal at Dubai International Airport, Terminal 3, while Flydubai operates out of Terminal 2, on the other side of the airport (which is really tricky to get to if you’re using the Metro).

But Dubai Airports chief executive Paul Griffiths told Reuters last month that they were looking at how to improve connections between the airlines – and one possibility was having both airlines operate out of Terminal 3.

“We need to make a strategic decision about how the traffic distribution will work,” he said.

“Then we need to move quickly into a design and construction phase to build whatever facilities are necessary for that, or adapt existing facilities around the new business model.”

Another option was to move Flydubai to Terminal 1, which is located right next to Terminal 3.

“We’ve got a series of proposals which hopefully before the end of the month will be evaluated and agreed,” Griffiths said.
