Prices are going up for the third month in a row.

After hikes in August and September, petrol prices in the UAE are still going up in October.

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy has announced that road users will pay Dhs2.12 per litre for Super 98, up from Dhs2.01 in September.

Special 95 will now cost Dhs2.01 per litre, up from 1.90, while E Plus will cost Dhs1.94, up from Dhs1.83.

Diesel prices will rise from Dhs2 to Dhs2.10.

So if you were filling up the 105-litre tank of your Range Rover with Super 98, it will now cost you Dhs222.6 instead of Dhs211.05.

That might not sound like a big difference, but back in July – the cheapest month for petrol so far this year – it would have only cost Dhs195.3.

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy first began setting fuel prices based on average global prices in August 2015. Before that, the price of petrol in the UAE was subsidised by the government, which shielded consumers from global fluctuations in the cost of petrol.
