More than 1,000 umbrellas have been distributed so far

Summer is here, and if you’re anything like us you’re probably darting between the air-conditioned comfort of your home, car and office on a regular basis avoiding having to be outside as much as possible.

But spare a thought for those who don’t have a car or are required to work in the afternoon sun, when temperatures can get incredibly warm.

Dubai Municipality certainly has, as they have launched a new initiative where they are taking to Dubai’s beaches and parks to hand out umbrellas to residents in an effort to help shield them from the scorching summer sun.

A number of photos posted to social media show municipality officials presenting umbrellas to happy and appreciative beachgoers, noting that more than 1,000 umbrellas have been distributed so far.
