The Palm just got a brand new monorail station
No car? No worries. There’s now an easier way to access The Palm…
The Palm Jumeirah is one of those places in Dubai that can seem like a bit of a no-go zone if you don’t have wheels. But that could change, with the opening of a conveniently located new monorail station.
Set within Al Ittihad Park, the new station provides easy access to the man-made island’s central park, as well as the Shoreline Apartments and Golden Mile Galleria mall.

Not familiar with The Palm Monorail? The train runs from the trunk of The Palm, starting at the Gateway station, to Atlantis Aquaventure at the far end. The new Al Ittihad Park station will be the only stop in between, though other stations are in the works.
The Monorail connects with Dubai Tram at the Palm Jumeirah stop. Trains run every 11 minutes, from 9am until 10.30pm everyday, and it takes about 10 minutes to get from one end of The Palm to the other.
It’s a bit more expensive than the tram or the metro – a one-way trip costs Dhs15, while the return journey will set you back Dhs25.
According to Nakheel, the developer behind Palm Jumeirah, the number of Palm Monorail users has risen by 70 per cent in the last four years.
The number of passengers in 2017 is expected to exceed 1.1 million, with around 3000 people taking trips every day as more attractions open on the island.
Upcoming developments include Nakheel Mall and The Pointe retail and entertainment precinct, which will both have their own Monorail stops.
Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said: “The Palm Monorail is one of Palm Jumeirah’s biggest success stories. The opening of Al Ittihad Park Station is a massive boost for the island’s investors, residents, visitors and retailers, and further cements our commitment to providing new services and attractions at this world-famous community.
“More people than ever can now enjoy the growing number of facilities on Palm Jumeirah – without using a car to reach them.”
