What can we expect from the Dubai weather in April?
Here’s what to expect for the next week – and next month…
The UAE’s official weather service – the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) – is saying that temperatures in Dubai will range from 17 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius over the next few days, but humidity is high, ranging from 65 to 95 per cent across the country. This is why it feels a lot hotter.
SO ANYWAY, WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FOR APRIL?
Well, as the NCMS notes in its monthly climate report, April is a “transitional period” that sees “rapid changes in air pressure distributions”… and therefore “rapid changes in weather”.
Data gathered at the Dubai International Airport weather station from 2003 to 2016 shows that the average temperature rises from 23 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius from March to April.
So yes, that’s a 5 degree Celsius jump.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature recorded in Dubai in April over 13 years was 43.5 degrees Celsius.
The lowest ever temperature recorded in April wasn’t in Dubai, but in Ras Al Khaimah: it was 5.3 degrees Celsius at Jabal Jais in 2009.
Average humidity levels at the Dubai Airport station sit at 54 per cent in April and rainfall averages plummet from 22.3 mm in March to 5.3 in April and 0.4 in May.
So yes, next month you can expect more heat, but not too much humidity and plenty of sunny skies…
May? Well that’s another story…
