Horses. Fashion. Fireworks. Sia. What a day, what a night…

The Dubai World Cup is full of contrasts, and it’s such a Dubai event: fashionistas rubbing shoulders with jockeys and world-class music competing with the Dhs36 million horse race on the track.

The rain wasn’t going to stop the party yesterday – here are 16 of the greatest moments from the day…

There were fireworks (of course there were)… and they were grand (again, of course they were). Click to play:

But here are the best dressed folks as judged by the officials (to the left is the best dressed gent, and the centre is the best dressed lady):

And it’s safe to say there were plenty of impeccably dressed people on the day…

Including this horse racing enthusiast…

There were British celebs there too – here’s reality star Millie Mackintosh with Kim Kardashian’s Dubai-based BFF Carla DiBello:

We personally loved the Segway performers on the night (this is definitely as cool as a Segway ever gets):

And yes, while there was rain on the day, the sky still lit up…

What about the actual racing? Well the USD10 million World Cup was won by the Kentucky-bred, Saudi-owned Arrogate:

And post-race, Sia impressed on stage. While her style of standing there unmoving while the show goes on around her does take a little getting used to, her voice was radio-crisp and her dancers phenomenal (click to play):
