Video: We take a walk around The Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk
Needed an excuse to get outside? Perhaps the Boardwalk has the answer…
The Boardwalk at The Palm Jumeirah has now opened to the public, and so we checked it out so that you know what you’ll find down there before you make the trip:
WHAT IS THE BOARDWALK?
The Boardwalk is an 11-kilometre walkway stretching across the outer crescent of The Palm, all the way from the Rixos Hotel on one side to the One & Only Hotel on the other.
As it stands, only five of the eventual 30 food trucks have been installed, with the rest looking to park up before the end of the year.
Although the Boardwalk is six metres wide, cyclists aren’t allowed. Sorry. The Boardwalk is for pedestrians.
HOW DO YOU GET THERE?
The Boardwalk stretches across the outer frond of The Palm. So if you drive towards Atlantis, you’ll be able to see it.
The red line in this illustration is the Boardwalk, giving you an idea of just how long it is:
It’s accessible via 37 different gates, and will eventually come to be lined with cafés, kiosks and food trucks.
Parking-wise, there will be around 350 free-of-charge parking spaces dotted around the walkway.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE GOING TO BE?
As well as the Boardwalk, a plan is also in place to construct four 1.6 kilometre-long promenades coming off of the Palm’s centre trunk.
Why? To connect the residential areas on the fronds to the soon-to-be Palm West Beach – another Nakheel project which will turn an entire length of the trunk into a walkable beach, park, shopping and dining complex.
Some of the restaurants on West Beach will be in glass-fronted piers, giving diners sprawling views of The Palm and the Arabian Gulf.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
We’re not going to lie, it looks awesome.
