Most of Dubai's taxis will have free WiFi by December
It has now been announced that Dubai taxis will feature interactive LCD screens, as well as free Wi-Fi starting December (just make sure you get into the right colour cab).
If you often run out of data, but hate having to go offline – you might be in luck.
It was announced back in October that the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) and the RTA have introduced free Wi-Fi on board their limousine taxis.
However, it has now been announced that all DTC taxis will feature interactive LCD screens, as well as a free Wi-Fi service starting December.
Oh, and just as a heads up, the DTC taxis are the red-roofed ones. So if you’re wondering why your yellow-topped taxi isn’t kitted out, it’s probably not DTC.

Why are the RTA and DTC doing this?
The move is in line with the Dubai Government’s plan to turn Dubai into one of the world’s ‘smartest’ cities.
We’ve got self-driving cars on the way, as well as one of the world’s fastest modes of transport, it’s only natural that the human-driven cars come kitted out with all the tech luxuries we’ve got inside our living room.

The touch screens will allow you to view videos of Dubai’s major tourist attractions, commercials of the RTA’s services, as well as calculate taxi fares in advance.
On top of that, customer satisfaction surveys will also be run on the LCD screens in a bid to upgrade taxi services.

*You will soon be able to book RTA taxis using Careem*
*New Dubai taxi drivers will have to pass an English test*
There’s WiFi on buses too?
Yeah, not just in taxis. The RTA’s Public Transport Agency announced this week that over 100 intercity buses from Dubai to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi will be upgraded to have high-speed WiFi.
