Rain forecast in Dubai today
There’s the familiar thickness of humidity in the air today, and for parts of the UAE that will mean rain (and thunder and lightning)…
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has forecast “heavy rain” for Dubai on Tuesday, and while we haven’t seen any downpour in Dubai city yet, the relative humidity near the Burj Khalifa at 11.30am on Tuesday morning was at a steamy 79 per cent.
The Dubai humidity peaked at 87 per cent at around 6am this morning, which is why you’ll have seen so many clouds in the sky as you woke up.
While the UAE’s official weather service has forecast rain in Dubai, sites like Accuweather and Weather.com have predicted sunny skies all day.
The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has already seen actual thunder and lightning this week in fact, and officials have warned residents to avoid wadis and other areas where water is likely to accumulate.
Here’s what it looked like in the eastern region of the UAE yesterday:
The NCMS’ forecasts are similar for Wednesday and Thursday, so you can expect cloudy humidity and a strong chance of rain throughout the rest of the week.
The weather service is also predicting heavy rain in Sharjah and Al Ain, and have said there is chance of light rain in Abu Dhabi.
“The cloud amount will increase occasionally over scattered areas with a chance of thundery rainfall at times,” explains the national weather service of this week’s weather across the UAE.
What about the temperatures? Well Dubai’s heat will range from 29 degrees Celsius to 36 degrees Celsius on Tuesday (yay, the 20s!).
