The initiative comes as an extension of the UAE’s ongoing support for the Palestinian people, especially the children…

1,000 injured Palestinian children from the Gaza Strip are to be transported to the UAE, along with their families, for medical treatment at UAE hospitals.

H.H Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE has ordered for the children to be sent to the UAE, given the medical care they need, and then sent back home safely, according to Emirates News Agency (wam).

The announcement was made following a phone call between H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mirjana Spoljaric, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). They also discussed the importance of “enabling the safe, unimpeded, and sustained delivery of relief and medical aid to civilians in Gaza”.

On October 20, the President of the UAE renewed calls for an immediate ceasefire at the GCC-Asean Summit. In a statement he said,  “Today, as we assemble, our region faces a grave conflict and the toll and risks associated with it amplify daily, especially in humanitarian terms”.

“We reiterate the call for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation and its threat to regional peace. We emphasise the priority of preserving the lives of all civilians, providing protection for them, and opening humanitarian corridors for the unimpeded transportation of medical and relief aid to the Gaza Strip.”

Moreover, UAE leaders have directed millions worth of aid towards helping the Palestinian victims affected by the ongoing crisis.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed sent Dhs73.5 million in humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people and H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai directed a further Dhs50 million.
