Taking advantage of a present shopping hack from… Deliveroo
I’ve mentioned in the past at how incalculably awful I am at present shopping. I’m indecisive, impatient and am so easily distracted that my spirit animal can only be a magpie with chronic undiagnosed ADHD. All of which makes trips to the mall this time of year – a full day’s shift, circling the same shops again and again only to end up panic buying something completely inappropriate. We still have an unopened, unused, indoor golf set from Christmas 2019 lurking in the storage cupboard. Not for the first time, Deliveroo has come to my rescue – their latest shopping function, allows you to browse some amazing gift options (spotted: a Nintendo Switch, unicorn plushies, flowers, chocolate, perfume, and cosmetics) all from the comfort of your own desk. I still get the panic sweats, but at least I don’t have to spend hours searching for my car in MOE. – Miles Buckeridge, Deputy Editor – What’s On Dubai
Rejuvenating my wardrobe with fits from… Represent

The latest episode in the ongoing saga of me picking up on fashion trends after literally everybody else – is relax fit, oversize t-shirts. I recently discovered Represent (available to order via Ounass), and have been pretty much living in their Owner’s Club cotton-jersey tees ever since. Perfect for when you’ve got an events meeting at 10, a cheeky Christmas lunch at 12, and an evening beach get-together at 5. – Miles Buckeridge, Deputy Editor – What’s On Dubai
Digging into Cinnabon’s Festive Collection
‘tis the season for a lot of things, and yummy cinnamon treats drenched in liquid sugar is definitely one of them. I just got introduced to one of their Christmas-themed boxes, which you can pair beautifully with their Makara Latte served hot or iced with marshmallows and fun sprinkles. Gift them to someone or even just to yourself, and enjoy these over the weekend. – Dinesh Ramanathan, Deputy Editor – What’s On Abu Dhabi
Staying healthy with… Sunshine Nutrition Vitamin C Effervescent Tablets
People, people, everywhere, and that unfortunately means it’s also cold and flu season. Whether it’s those of us bringing a sneeze back as a souvenir from our travels, or folks visiting with gifts during this gorgeous time of year, you must admit the flu is going around. Again. Sunshine Nutrition’s Vitamin C effervescent tablets will help boost your immunity and hopefully keep that sniffle at bay. Seen these a million times? Good, pop one in a glass of water. Here’s to your good health. – Dinesh Ramanathan, Deputy Editor – What’s On Abu Dhabi
Tucking into a delicious meal at… Sushiyaki

If you’re heading to Souk Madinat Jumeirah, take note as there’s a new Japanese restaurant that has opened its doors. Team What’s On was invited to see the venue and try out the dishes, and I can easily say, the restaurant has firmly secured itself a spot in my Top Restaurants I’ve tried in 2023 list. Not only was the food unique (nothing I have personally ever tried before), but it was plated beautifully with beautiful pops of colour and the staff too just made us feel like we were family. The restaurant has amazing interiors, but given that it is winter, the next time I dine here I will pick a spot outdoors to soak in those Madinat Jumeirah water views. –Aarti Saundalkar, Online Reporter
Soaring to the sky and enjoying breakfast with… Balloon Adventures Dubai
View this post on Instagram
If I told you I just had a sky-high breakfast, you most likely would have assumed I was at the Burj Khalifa. But no, this week I have the amazing opportunity to enjoy breakfast in the sky in the UAE’s first seated hot air balloon. The experience was memorable and we were lucky it was a clear day because we had a spectacular sunrise and endless desert dunes views. Given the chance, I would easily do the experience again. –Aarti Saundalkar, Online Reporter
Listening to jams with the team at… What’s On
The office vibes at What’s On HQ are always unmatched but yesterday (technically today, as I’m writing this) was my last day in the office and that means that all the Christmas tunes were on and after exhausting our ability to listen to Christmas music, we moved onto classics including Piano Man, The Pina Colada Song, and American Pie, and so many other tunes I can’t even keep up. But my YouTube watch history would make an incredible playlist. In this, my final What’s On Loves – I would just like to publicly say that I am so happy to be a part of this team. Without becoming too sappy, I can truly say that this group of people are a group that I hold very near and dear and I don’t think I could endure the chaos without them. I hope you all have a very merry Christmas. ily – Shelby Gee, Junior Reporter
Sushi, ceviche and fried rice from… Yama
View this post on Instagram
While pondering what to eat for lunch one day this week, we were surprised with a delivery from Yama Sushi and Yakatori. It was just what we needed to help us get through press week. The delivery consisted of a range of delicious dishes but some of my favourites include the vegetable cazuela, a carretilla ceviche and also the Chicken Karaage. Their maki rolls and sashimi were also top quality. If you’re after sushi for your next delivery I highly recommend Yama. – Shelby Gee, Junior Reporter
Buying more jewellery when I really don’t need more jewellery with…Lucky Bear and Co.

That statement is a lie, because you can never have too much jewellery. I’ve been looking for delicate signet rings for a long time, and I finally managed to find exactly what I wanted at Lucky Bear and Co. While I generally stay away from mixed metals, the look of a gold and silver mix isn’t too bad. I’ve been wearing the two rings I got all week and I think they’re on their way to becoming my new staple pieces. – Manaal Fatimah, Junior Online Reporter
Road trip-ing with the girls to… Al Qudra Lake
When the weather is this delicious and the mood is just right, road trips are ten times better. The group paid a visit to Al Qudra Lake this past weekend, and the night sky there is one of the most beautiful sights I’ve seen this year. We had a typical little picnic, complete with pasta salad, sandwiches and getting lost in the dark trying to find our car. 10/10 experience – would recommend. – Manaal Fatimah, Junior Online Reporter
