Sponsored: The 14-piece PRAED Orchestra! will perform a brand new composition this Saturday…

Looking for something to do this weekend? Live music fans are in for a treat as musical duo PRAED are joined by 12 additional musicans to perform as the 14-member PRAED Orchestra! for the first time in Sharjah this Saturday.

PRAED, made up of Raed Yassin and Paed Conca, are known for their fusion sound of Arabic popular music (shaabi) with free jazz and electronics. For their latest piece, they’re teaming up with a further 12 musicians to form the PRAED Orchestra!, which includes saxophone, keyboards, drums, electric guitar and more.

PRAED Orchestra! will perform the free gig live at 8pm on Saturday November 3 in Sharjah’s Calligraphy Square.

Founded in 2006 by Yassin and Conca, Praed’s interest in Arabic and particularly Egyptian popular culture is a starting point for both composition and research. The band combines shaabi’s trance-inducing style and explores links with other popular and hypnotic genres such as free jazz, space jazz and psychedelic rock to create their unique sound.

For over a decade, the duo have toured in venues across the Middle East, Europe, Canada and Japan, collaborating with an array of artists and musicians in larger scale ensembles. For their composition this Saturday, the 14-piece PRAED Orchestra promises a “dizzying sonic experience, free from genre classifications and notions of a sound-geography relationship.”

We can’t wait to hear what that sounds like…
