The quarantine time in Dubai for those who have tested positive for Covid-19 has been reduced to five days. Previously, the isolation period in Dubai was ten days.
A number of new announcements have been made by the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority this week. The rules pertain to masks and the Al Hosn app. It comes into effect today, September 28, 2022.
A synopsis of the new rules
As of today, September 28, 2022, masks are no longer required to be worn indoors in most settings except when on public transportation, in a medical setting or in places of worship. Airlines will e able to make their own decisions as to whether masks will remain a requirement for international travel. Dubai-based airlines Emirates and flydubai no longer require their passengers to wear a face mask when flying.
However, in all other indoor environments, including schools, hotels and malls, masks will become optional from Wednesday.

Food service providers and suspected Covid-19 cases will also be required to continue wearing a mask.
Airlines will be able to make their own decisions as to whether masks will remain a requirement for international travel.
Event organisers will be in charge of creating their own protocols on masks for large-scale events.
NCEMA stressed the importance of maintaining the current stable phase. Therefore, those who are displaying Covid-19 symptoms need to wear their marks for the safety of others and must undergo a test. Those individuals who have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive also need to do a PCR test and abide by the isolation period.
A big change is also taking place on the Al Hosn App from September 28 onwards. Going forward, after a negative PCR test the Green Pass will remain valid for 30 days if you’re fully vaccinated, rather than the previous 14 days. If you’re not fully vaccinated, Green Pass will remain active for seven days after a negative PCR. At the moment, a Green is mandatory for access to hotels, attractions and malls across Abu Dhabi.
