UAE National Day: Dubai authorities confirm number of guests allowed at family gatherings
Citizens and residents are urged to follow safety precautions over the National Day holidays…
National Day is just around the corner and that means a five-day weekend for the private and public sector. While this would normally mean a time for parties and celebration, as we already know, this year will be a little different.
Ahead of the extended break, Dubai authorities have issued guidelines which citizens and residents are urged to follow. These include avoid large family gatherings, adhering to the official health and safety precautionary measures at all times and avoiding crowded public places.
Family gatherings must be limited to no more than 20 people at home, and all guests must follow safety guidelines. These precautions including wearing a mask over their nose and mouth as well as maintaining a distance of two metres at all times.

Dubai authorities are also urging the public to avoid crowded places, for their own safety and that of others. If you are heading out to watch the fireworks over the holiday, be sure to maintain social distancing at all times.
On December 1, the UAE will celebrate Commemoration Day, formerly referred to as Martyr’s Day. This annual holiday honours the Emiratis who died while protecting their country. In 2020, it falls on a Tuesday, and it will be marked with a public holiday.
The next day is UAE National Day, on Wednesday December 2. We usually get two days off to celebrate, and according to the unified calendar from the UAE Cabinet, we’ll also get Thursday December 3 as a public holiday this year.
