A Titanic replica will set sail from Dubai in 2022
Here’s your chance to recreate Jack and Rose’s iconic ‘I’m flying’ scene…
Titanic fans, get excited: A replica of the ill-fated ocean liner is set to make a grand voyage from Dubai.
The idea to build an almost identical replica of the RMS Titanic was first floated in 2012, exactly 100 years after the ship hit an iceberg and sank in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The US$500 million project, named Titanic II, was supposed to launch in China in 2016, with a cruise planned from Dubai this year.

Blue Star Line – the company behind the plans – has confirmed that although delayed, the voyage will still take place, with a new launch date of 2022.
“We’re still going to cruise from Dubai,” chairman Clive Palmer told Cruise Arabia & Africa Online.
“After a shakedown cruise from the shipyard to Singapore, we’ll offer a two-week maiden voyage to Dubai, with another grand voyage from Dubai to Southampton.”

The Australian billionaire said once in the UK, the Titanic II would make weekly voyages to New York during the summer months, undertaking world cruises throughout the rest of the year. Dubai would be a regular port of call.
According to plans, the new Titanic will feature nine decks and 840 cabins capable of accommodating 2,400 passengers and 900 crew members. Passengers will be able to buy first, second and third class tickets, just like the original.
Unlike the original, however, the Titanic II will feature digital navigation and radar systems, modern safety features, and an adequate supply of lifeboats – so you shouldn’t need to worry about history repeating itself.
