NYE traffic in Dubai: Here are the road closures to know about...
Plan ahead if you’re heading Downtown…
If you live around the Burj Khalifa, or are planning to head down to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks tonight, take note: the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced several road closures ahead of tonights celebrations.
The road closures will begin from 4pm on Monday December 31. Roads affected include:
Al Asayel Street – closed from 4pm, open for buses and emergency vehicles only
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard – closed from 5pm
Happiness Street – closed from 6pm at Roda Al Murooj Intersection, closed from 8pm at Zabeel Intersection and closed from 10pm at the Emirates Towers Roundabout
Financial Center Road – closed from 8pm on both upper and lower levels
Al Sukook Street – closed from 8pm

If you’re taking the metro, the RTA has also advised that Burj Khalifa metro station will be closed from 10pm on New Year’s Eve until 6am on New Year’s Day. Metro users after this time are advised to get off at either DIFC or Business Bay metro stations and walk to their destination.
After the event, shuttle buses will be put on to take guests to purpose set-up taxi ranks. These can be found at:
– Sheikh Zayed Road, next to Burj Khalifa/The Dubai Mall metro station
– Lower and upper levels of DIFC
– Burj Khalifa Boulevard

The RTA further advised those heading to the Burj Khalifa to begin their journey as early as possible.
