1. Check out a superhero exhibition
Yas Mall has partnered with DC and Warner Bros. to host The Art of DC – The Dawn of Super Heroes for the first time in the Middle East. The one-of-a-kind exhibition features original drawings of famous superheroes and supervillains, and a curated selection of costumes and props – including the cape worn by Christopher Reeve in the Superman movies and Lynda Carter’s iconic Wonder Woman costume.

2. Book a great-value turkey feast
‘Tis the season to eat turkey, and did you know that homeware giant IKEA does turkey takeaways? From December 20 to 25, IKEA is offering stuffed whole roast turkey for Dhs295 for regular customers and Dhs245 for IKEA Family members. The bargain bird weighs around 4-5kg and comes with trimmings in a roast pan. Orders just have to be made 24 hours in advance.

3. Go for a ride on a giant slide
A 15-metre-high waterslide will be erected at beachfront destination A’l Bahar on the Corniche this weekend. The waterslide will be suitable for visitors aged 15 and over, and is free to ride. No registration is required – you just have to rock on up.

4. Try a brand new brunch
Party hotspot Iris Yas Island is launching a new Friday brunch today. Le Brunch runs from noon to 5pm and features live cooking stations, a huge barbecue, and creative cocktails. Packages start from Dhs190 including soft drinks, Dh240 including house wine and beer, and Dhs290 including spirits and cocktails. There will also be post-brunch drinks packages from 5pm to 9pm, and if you really want to make a day of it, combined packages are also available.

5. Head along to the Fam Food Feast
It’s the last weekend of the Abu Dhabi Food Festival, and it’s going out with a bang at the Fam Food Feast in Umm Al Emarat Park. Suitable for the whole family, the event will have shows, creative workshops, and of course, plenty of food.

6. Satisfy your sweet tooth at a Festive Candyland
The Yas Marina promenade is transforming into a Festive Candyland this weekend. There will be all kinds of fun events and activities for kids aged 2 to 16, including gingerbread decorating, ornament crafting, candy themed game stalls, live performances and entertainment, and even visits from Santa Claus.
