An amazing 'water light' show is coming to Dubai Creek
The free show will be on for three nights only…
One of Dubai’s first contemporary art institutions, Jameel Arts Centre, is opening on Sunday. And to celebrate the launch, the new centre is bringing a world-famous public art installation to Dubai Creek.
The show is called Waterlicht, and it uses a combination of LEDS and lenses to create an ever-changing layer of light. The overall effect is that the viewer feels like they are immersed under water.
Conceived by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, Waterlicht is described as a “dream landscape about the power and poetry of water”. The virtual flood is also meant to raise awareness about water issues like rising sea levels.

The installation has appeared at exhibitions in Paris, Madrid, London and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Dubai art lovers will be able to check out Waterlicht at the Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park from 7pm to 10pm on Sunday November 11, Thursday November 15, and Friday November 16.
The show is free to attend, but due to limited capacity you’ll need to register via the website to reserve your spot.
The new Jameel Arts Centre is set to bring plenty more exciting works to the city, with its multiple gallery spaces playing host to solo and group exhibitions, large-scale installations and sculptural works.
