Rain and hail lashed down on parts of the UAE yesterday
Talk about an unpredictable summer…
A typical UAE summer tends to be just that… typical. It starts off hot and then proceeds to get hotter until you can’t go outside for more than five minutes without the immediate need for a shower.
This summer, however, has been anything but. Earlier this week, humidity levels were reported at a crazy 100 per cent in parts of Dubai and Al Ain, and now the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has posted footage of what you’d least expect to see in the middle of a sweltering August: rain and hail.

That’s right, on Wednesday Sweihan in Al Ain was lashed by unseasonable weather as pellets of ice fell from the heavens confusing residents as to whether they should reach for their sunscreen or an umbrella.
Other parts of Al Ain also saw heavy rainfall which, frankly, going by the footage looks like it wouldn’t be out of place in a monsoon storm in South East Asia.

Sweeping dust clouds have also been intermittently covering parts the country in an orange haze making for poor visibility on the roads.
And with the recent news of a snowman being built on The World islands off the coast of Dubai, it seems like we’ve managed to hit all four seasons bingo in the space of one month.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that the weather in the UAE is predictable…
