You can now cross Dubai Creek in an electric abra
They offer half- and full-hour tours…
Crossing Dubai Creek on an abra is one of Dubai’s must-do bucket list items, but during the summer months, even a short journey can be unbearably hot.
To that end, the RTA has just launched a fleet of new electric-powered abras designed to make travelling back and forth over the city’s iconic waterway a much more pleasant experience.
The completely enclosed vessels are fully air conditioned but still mimic the design of a classic abra. They do work a little differently, however.
Instead of paying the usual Dhs1 fee for a quick hop across the creek, the new electric abras offer half- and full-hour tours for Dhs60 and Dhs120 per person, respectively.
The boats depart from three principal stations along Dubai Creek: Al Seef, Baniyas and Festival City.

“The launch of the electric abra service hits multiple targets.” said Nazim Faisal, Director of Marine Transport at the RTA.
“It broadens the marine transport network, and serves tourist activities on Dubai Creek; which is attracting a growing number of tourists and marine tourism,” he added.
The RTA has also recently deployed electric abras in other parts of the city including Dubai Marina.
