Sheikh Zayed Road is getting a new Salik toll gate
It is expected to help ease traffic along the major highway…
A new Salik gate has been erected on Sheikh Zayed Road located just after Ibn Battuta Mall.
According to The Khaleej Times, the toll gate is only on the side of the highway that travels towards Abu Dhabi. This would indicate that it is designed to encourage motorists to use the alternate route of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Rd which opened in 2016.

While not currently operational, according to the RTA the new gate is expected to go live on October 24 when construction is completed of a bridge on Al Yalayis Street leading to the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road.
This is now the fourth Salik gate to be introduced along Sheikh Zayed Road – the others being in Al Safa (pictured above), Al Barsha and at Al Garhoud Bridge – and it is expected to help ease traffic along the major highway.
