Contestants in the world’s longest desert run will cover a staggering distance of 270km…

Fancy yourself a bit of a long distance runner? Then you’ll want to enroll in the ultimate test of endurance – a four-day ultra-marathon across the picturesque deserts of Dubai.

In collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve will host the world’s longest desert run between December 11 to 15 over a staggering distance of 270 kilometres.

Participants will compete in three prize categories – male, female and team – for the chance to win a trophy and a grand prize of US$6,000 (Dhs22,000) – and what we imagine will be some serious bragging rights.

There will also be (relatively) shorter 100km and 50km courses for those who can’t hack the full ultra-run.

Registration for the 270km course is Dhs5,800 and includes bus transfer to and from the Al Marmoom desert and accommodation for six nights, as well as a main meal the night before the race (you’re going to need those carbs!).

Throughout the challenge there will be a medical team standing by in case of emergencies and plenty of water on hand to to keep contestants well hydrated.
