RTA urges against reckless driving during Ramadan or face hefty fines
The Holy Month is often a time of increased road accidents
The RTA has issued a warning to Dubai motorists to cease driving immediately should they feel drowsy or exhausted while on the road.
The notice came in the form of an SMS sent out to drivers over the first week of Ramadan, reminding them that reckless driving that endangers the lives of others is punishable by a fine of Dhs2,000, 23 black points and the confiscation of their vehicle for up to 60 days.
#غرامة تصل إلى 2000 درهم لمن يرتكب هذه المخالفة في رمضان.

Ramadan is often a time for increased road accidents in the UAE. The National quotes a study showing that over 1,600 accidents during the Holy Month last year were found to have taken place during the late morning rush hour between 10am and 11am.
Fasting can result in low blood sugar and dehydration, which can slow reaction times and affect concentration. To which, the RTA recommends that drivers are fully rested before they set out on a journey.
