The Palm will soon be illuminated by a 16km light show
There will be 16km of colourful lights along the palm-shaped island (and they will be extra special on National Day and NYE)…
H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, visited Cityscape Global today, and while he was there Palm Jumeirah developer Nakheel revealed that the palm-shaped island will be lit up with a permanent, 16 kilometre display of colourful lights.
When the light show will be ready to roll we don’t yet know.
The colourful lights will be on the island’s trunk, its bridges, its crescent and its sea walls. Here are renderings that show some of the spots where you’ll be able to glimpse the light show:
The light show will change, but will primarily be in the colours of the UAE flag (we imagine National Day’s display will be fairly spectacular) and in a range of blues (to reflect the seaside location of the Palm).

We don’t know much more about it right now, but we do know there will be a special display on New Year’s Eve. Watch this space and we’ll keep you updated on when you can expect them to be installed.
