Watch: Sonam Kapoor goes for a cruise along the Dubai Water Canal
Turns out she’s both a Bollywood star and a budding boat captain…
It’s no secret that Bollywood royalty love visiting Dubai, but this is the first time we’ve seen one of the industry’s A-listers taking the helm behind a boat in the city…
Neerja actress Sonam Kapoor (yes, daughter to Anil) shared this video on Insta’ yesterday that shows her steering a boat along the just-opened Dubai Canal.
One of her passengers can be heard asking in wonder, “Are you legitimately steering?” before asking her to change course a scootch (maybe she was heading to keenly towards Business Bay).

And that’s not the only Dubai icon Kapoor’s been hanging out at while in Dubai this week, she also spent time at the Burj Al Arab’s new cabanas, fitting in a mannequin challenge while she was there:

VISITING THE CANAL
While not all of us can cruise down the Canal in our own personal boat, we can walk along it or catch a water taxi down it (read about the different marine transport stations here).
If you’re visiting to take a stroll, here’s our video guide of what to expect:
But how do you park there? Well, drive to Al Habtoor City, or the W Hotel: there’s a new RTA parking lot right next to it that, when we visited, had plenty of room. You can also access this parking lot from the Jumeirah exit – just take the ‘Safa Park’ exit and follow the signs to the Dubai Canal. They’re really clear.
The good news is you can also metro there – simply get off at Business Bay Metro station and then walk along the pedestrian path on Sheikh Zayed Road (yes, you can actually walk along the SZR bridge) towards Habtoor City. There are then stairs and an elevator that take you straight down to the Canal. Fancy.
This also means you can now metro to the W Hotel, the Westin and St. Regis. Handy.
