Dubai Canal will soon have some seriously cool floating homes
Ever fancied a waterfront property? How about a house that’s actually on the water?
That’s what you’ll soon see bobbing on Dubai Canal soon thanks to a rather futuristic upcoming project.
Finnish company Admares has been contracted to work on 10 floating water homes as part of the Marasi Business Bay development.
There will be a total of 10 water homes coming to the city, as well as two restaurants and a yacht club. And yes, they all float.
The structures will be manufactured and managed in Finland before being transported by sea to Dubai by the end of 2017.
On top of the floating homes, restaurants and yacht club, Marasi Business Bay in the Dubai Canal will also house (at 12 kilometres) the longest waterfront promenade in the UAE, featuring five tree-lined marinas with berthing for 1,250 yachts.
Marasi Business Bay will also be split up into three themed areas; The Yacht Club, The Pier and The Park.

“Our objective is to create unique, innovative and environmentally friendly real estate products, utilising groundbreaking multidisciplinary off-site construction technology,” said Mikael Hedberg, CEO of Admares.
Admares was the group responsible for the Burj Al Arab Terrace, and have already started production of the floating homes in collaboration with Finnish interior design studio Kudos and Sigge Architects.
“We stay one step ahead by working with speed and efficiency to seamlessly create blueprints for success and deliver exceptional lifestyles, value and a lasting impact for the betterment of Dubai,” said Abdulla M. Lahej, Group CEO of Dubai Properties.
“[Admares’] use of innovative technologies and unique construction techniques to deliver this type of pioneering structures will ensure that these unique homes on water, and the surrounding promenade, parks and marina, will be one of the most sought-after residential destinations in the city.”
SO ARE THESE THE ONLY FLOATING HOMES IN DUBAI?
Not quite.
The Floating Seahorse villas sit around four kilometres off the Dubai coast in the middle of ‘The World’, with each villa costing around Dhs10 million.
