Coldplay are playing in Abu Dhabi this New Year's Eve
Looking for New Year’s Eve plans in the UAE? This is a bit of a game changer…
Cancel those tickets for that gala party you’ve booked, as it’s just been announced that Coldplay are playing in Abu Dhabi this New Year’s Eve at the du arena, and tickets go on sale today (Wednesday November 30) at 12pm.
The surprise gig by the kings of soaringly emotional rock was confirmed on Twitter by the band itself:

This will be the third time the band has played in the capital – Chris Martin and the lads were here in 2009 and again on New Year’s Eve in 2011.
The British band were formed in 1996 (their original name was Pectoralz) – and have taken home seven Grammy Awards in their two decade career.
So how much are tickets? Well they start from Dhs350 and can be bought on Ticket Master from 12pm. The Dhs350 is the early bird general admission price, once those are sold out it will go up to Dhs395. The VIP platform tickets cost Dhs695, Golden Circle tickets are Dhs995, Tree House tickets are Dhs1,495 and will have you standing on an elevated platform at the side of stage, a Platinum Table of 12 is Dhs15,000 and a Platinum Table of 6 is Dhs7,500. Meanwhile, suites for 15 people are Dhs30,000.
*ALSO: Guns N’ Roses are coming to Dubai*
You can also buy early entry general admission tickets for Dhs495 (so that you can come into the venue before everyone else to ensure you get close to the front), and there are golden circle early entry tickets for Dhs1,295 too.
Their latest album, A Head Full of Dreams, was released just under a year ago (and Martin has hinted that it might be their last) – and they are currently touring the album around the world. They will be coming to the UAE straight after playing shows in Australia and New Zealand.
The album features guest appearances from Beyonce, Tove Lo and Barack Obama (yes, you read that last one correctly).
This is the song you’re most likely to know from it:
And here’s a bit of a glimpse of what to expect from them live:
We can certainly think of worse ways to say sayonara 2016 and welcome in the new year.
Tickets will go on sale at 12pm on Wednesday November 30 and will be available at Ticket Master and Virgin Megastores. For more info head here.
