You know the food truck park Last Exit? Soon there will be 10 of them!
Drive-thru pit stops are going to be very ubiquitous soon (we’re talking in the next six months)…
Have you been to the food truck drive-thru spot on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi road yet? Well, the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week destination has proven so popular, there will soon be 10 of them.
That’s right, the company behind the project, Meraas, is going to build 9 more Last Exit pit stops.
Where will they be? Well we know there will be an additional spot on Sheikh Zayed Road (basically directly opposite the existing one) to serve people driving from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
There will also be one in Hatta (which is a classic road trip destination), one at Al Khawaneej, one on Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, two on Emirates Road.
Oh, and there will also be one along Al Qudra Road (a post-cycle burger? Yes please).
The current 1,500-square-metre attraction is home to 12 trucks, all serving up mobile dishes from a range of already established local eateries. It’s the first of its kind in the UAE, offering those travelling between the emirates a much-needed pit stop for refueling on something other than gas station fare. The lines can get long, yes, but there being nine more soon should put an end to that problem:
The nine new spots will have between 9 and 20 trucks each, and they will all be open 24/7.
When will they open? Within the next six months (things in Dubai certainly move fast).

*13 underground UAE music shows (that are actually good)*
*6 so-hot-right-now US restaurants likely to be opening in Dubai*
*Hourly car rental now permitted in Dubai*
All of the new locations will have play zones for children, toilets, ATMs, spaces for walking and exercising, and there will even be an open-air cinema at one, and a business centre (just in case you need to take care of some emails while you eat your road shwarma).
Wondering which outlets you can find at the current Last Exit? Here’s the list…
Baja Fresh
Californian-style Mexican (the taco bowls are legendary).
Big Smoke Burger
We rate this Canadian hand-crafted burger chain – the patties are made fresh daily, the toppings are all-natural, and the French fries are hand cut (definitely try the poutine).
Burger Pit
Another burger spot, but this one’s all about classic American fare and is inspired by the ’50s. When we visited this was the only outlet with a long line of cars waiting for food – word is, a prominent royal visited it and started a bit of a craze.
Clinton St. Bakery
The Downtown branch of this New York eatery is known for its wonderful scones and fried chicken waffles.
Il Café de Roma
You’ll have seen this Italian coffee chain around before.
Operation Falafel
This one serves up not just falafel, but also hummus, fattoush, shwarma and more.
Poco Loco
Solid Peruvian and Latin American soul food (there’s already one in JBR).
Starbucks
You’ve probably heard of this one already, however have you ever seen a Starbucks in an airstream?
The Brass
A Dubai-based East-meets-West food truck, serving up fresh and light contemporary fare (and probably coffee too if the CityWalk and JBR branches are anything to go by).
The Hot Dog Stand
Gourmet hot dogs. Need we say more? This is a bit of What’s On favourite. The Mexican is basically like nachos piled on top of a hot dog. Yum.
Urban Seafood
Instagram: UrbanSeafood.
Expect seafood buckets and mixed platters containing lobster, mussels, shrimp, calamari and more. Pictured is their becoming-famous lobster roll.
All Day Minimart
A convenience store that can be found throughout Dubai.
