So there's a new metro walkway at Ibn Battuta mall
Love the Metro? Love Ibn Battuta Mall? You’re in luck.
A two-storey, 210-metre walkway has opened up between Ibn Battuta Mall and the Dubai Metro, allowing public transport users easy access to the sprawled Jebel Ali mall.
Previously shoppers had to cross the road from the Ibn Battuta Metro station – which may not seem like a big ask, but when it’s 50 degrees outside…
The new walkway will also prevent Metro users from hopping across the road, which slows down the journey of drivers in the area.

Ninety retail and dining outlets will also be added to the new Metro connection later this year.
Ibn Battuta Mall’s on a bit of a growth spurt, with 300,000 square feet of retail space featuring 60 new shops and restaurants opening in May this year.
Among the new shops opened this year were Marks & Spencer, a Decathlon, United Furniture, Under Armour, Paul, Superdry, Jashanmal and Iconic.
This brings the total amount of shops in the mall close to 400.
WHAT OTHER NEW EXPANSIONS IS THE MALL GETTING?
Ibn Battuta’s first hotel – a 372-room Premier Inn is also looking to open its doors in October.
Another 90 outlets, including a 24-hour food court will also open later this year.
As if that wasn’t enough, future planned expansions for the third quarter of next year look to total the floorspace of the mall to 4.7 million square feet.
The new expansions include a glass-covered courtyard, a brand new cinema complex, a multi-storey car park and a second hotel.
The 300,000 square foot glass covered courtyard will be filled with sunlight during the summer months, but will turn open air for the winter months, thanks to its retractable roof.
The courtyard will play home to another 80 new shops and restaurants.
